Sometimes when I go through some stacks of books here and there, I keep finding my old half-written manuscripts and I wonder why I abandoned them when the whole plot line was very good. Was it because I was scared of writing an epic fantasy with 800 pages and all? (more…)
We are humans and are passionate people. I am passionate about writing. I try to write everyday if I can. If we are passionate about something, why hold ourselves back? What are we waiting for? A miracle, that we’ll wake up one day and do what we’ve always wanted to do. No, that’s not what we’re doing. We’re burying our passions because of our routine lives. (more…)
In the beginning when I started writing novels and stories, I thought a scene meant the same thing as in movies, where something happens at a particular place at a particular time. But then as time passed, I read about it and my definition of the word scene changed for good. (more…)
I write this now because I’ve finally realized the importance and effectiveness of deadlines.
Deadlines are a time limits in which a person should complete their work.
My mom showed me an article in the newspaper indicating there was a short story contest for young writers (Well the funny thing was according to them, you must have been older than 17 and younger than 50. Wow, 50 = Young writers, but maybe they mean all the first time writers)
I start the debate with my dad by saying, “Suppose there is a person who has achieved something. Now a hundred people praise him for his achievement and there’s one person who gives a bad remark about his achievement and the achiever feels hurt by that one single comment rather than be happy with a hundred good comments”
So my dad says, “See, that’s where you go wrong. Look, when one person is praised he keeps going higher and higher and getting a big head. And that one bad remark will help him be on the right path” (more…)
The worst mistake a author could ever make in fiction is by stalling or dragging the story and filling the gaps between it with unproductive sentences,paragraphs, scenes etc. The fact is that, we as reader’s don’t like getting stalled, some are too patient they can wait but what about all the remaining 99% of the readers.
