Don’t Keep the Knowledge You Have to Yourself. Share it!

See this is where I fail most of the time. If I know something awesome. I kinda back off when it comes to teaching it to the other guy, because of the fear that he’ll get better at it than me and beat me at it one fine day. Which is ridiculous and may be sometimes true but that doesn’t justify the fact that I’m withholding knowledge and help that could be beneficial to the other person.

That fear would be what most of us would call apprehension + jealousy + greed + being a miser. We can’t be perfect, but we can try to not be too jealous. A healthy dose of jealousy and envy is not bad. But being a miser when it comes to knowledge not only stops you from moving ahead but also keeps others in a dark corner when they could be doing better things with that knowledge.

Don’t promote ignorance. People should be able to learn as many things as they want to. You shouldn’t be the one to decide what they’ll know or not know. Withholding knowledge is as bad as not helping others. Don’t be that person.

Share your knowledge and everything you possibly can. Because sharing is caring. And it also means you’re helping someone do or know things they couldn’t do or understand before. Don’t withhold it because of your childish fear that they may get better at it than you. They will, if they are meant to, but they won’t because you think so.

Don’t let your fear, promote ignorance in others. Enlighten them with knowledge.

For me that means, sharing quite a few things about computers and the internet, knowing that now I won’t hold a upper hand like I used to, when it comes to that particular knowledge. And I should learn to be fine with that, because I do not want to be a miser when it comes to knowledge and information.

It will help set the world free and let it move forward and faster to be a better world and a better place for everyone.

Knowledge is meant to shared, not withheld. Remember this, always.

I am guilty of this, and I know most of the other people are too. So remember the bolded words. They will help you do the right thing, when you want to do the opposite of it.

Friends and Friendships

This is a really sensitive topic for me, and I want to talk about it. So let’s define friends. A friend is someone you care about, who cares for you and has your back and shares some of your interests.

But what if you never find anyone who likes things that you do? Are you destined to be alone? I don’t think so. I have friends, but sometimes we have nothing in common. I guess, it’s most of the times, but still they’ll have my back and I will theirs. It’s the way. I care about them.

But really, can we never find friends who are compatible with us? I’m talking to some of you, who know what sometimes it’s like. I’ve never found anyone who’s compatible with me, but I do have friends and best friends. But even if I call them that, then why am I so closed up when it comes to expressing my feelings.

One, maybe it has to do with the fact that I have a highly sensitive brain, it’s not a disease. It’s just that only 15-20% of the world’s population is born this way. And sometimes it works to my advantage, sometimes it just turns into a weakness. Having a sensitive brain means sensory overload sometimes. You feel too greatly for others, if someone else is hurt emotionally, you feel hurt too. Sometimes you just can’t do anything about it. It all gets too overwhelming, you just want the world to shut up and leave you alone for once.

I want you, who is reading this know that being sensitive doesn’t make you any less of a person. Especially, if you are a guy and were born like me.

So, back to friendships. Friendships are sometimes like hourglasses, once the sand runs out, they disappear before you know it. Some friendships are like rocks, they erode too slowly, hit by wave after wave from an ocean trying to find its way everywhere.

Friends are important in this wide world. But the fact remains that, friendships are not at all as they are portrayed on TV or in fiction. Very rarely is that true.

Finding compatible friends in this world with the internet and social media, is becoming even tougher than before, however much some of you may argue about the benefits of the social media, there are always two sides to a coin. And to this, there is this lack of real world relationships between people. People are getting more and more distant. All we have these days between us are texts and calls and messages.

But then again, I can’t blame anyone for that. It’s just a fact of life. We don’t get enough time. We are too busy living this virtual life that has almost no value when we are living in the real world.

I have to stress that friendships are more important that you realize. The ones you have, don’t neglect them, the ones who you talk to and aren’t friends, make them your friends, because sometimes friends are all you need. And sometimes they are not.

Movie Review #7 – Gattaca

Movie Review #7 – GattacaGattaca is one amazing sci-fi movie that I’ve ever watched. Though it doesn’t necessarily focus on science fiction that much. The focus is more on the reality of the world, a simple love story and a struggle to do something that you’ve dreamed of, when everyone is against you or simply doesn’t believe in you.

Starring Ethan Hawke as Vincent, Uma Thurman as Irene with Jude Law as Jerome Morrow. A cast that is sure to tingle your eyes with their acting skills. And directed and written by the all talented Andrew Niccol.

The character of Vincent Freeman teaches you that there is hope for everyone, even for the outcasts, if you dare to dream big.

This is a world where everything is decided based on what DNA you are born with. A person conceived through natural means is called an invalid, an outcast and isn’t provided with opportunities that he wants to have.  There is no more discrimination based on caste, color or religion, now it all comes down to science.

This may be what our future will be one day. It’s quite possible. But this movie is pure fiction so we gotta wait for the future then.

The subtle romance between Vincent and Irene is the beauty of the movie. Vincent’s lifelong goal ever since he was a child was to go into outer space. He is rejected from every interview and he ends up as a cleaner in the end. So he is forced to assume the identity of a genetically superior person. So he needs a person who is willing to lend him his identity and that is Jerome who is now a cripple but the system doesn’t know that. Being a different person than who you really are is not as easy, in this future. Blood tests, urine tests are conducted every now and then to verify the identity of people.

A strand of hair can mean the difference between life and death for a person, if you have assumed a fake identity. So you should be so careful that you don’t let even one of your hairs to fall away from your body.

More of all, the overall theme here is simple and I will sum it up in two sentences.

It is what you dream and dare to achieve and not what you are that makes you that person. That one in a million.

I recommend this movie to everyone. There’s a beautiful message here that needs to be heard. And a beautiful movie that needs to be watched.

That’s it. Tell me your thoughts here in the comments if you’ve ever watched this movie or are going to watch it soon or later.

Book Review #5: Prodigy by Marie Lu

Prodigy by Marie LuProdigy, the second book in the Legend Trilogy is an amazing dystopian book, filled with politics, a light romance and a few heart aches. Whoever liked the fast paced story of the first book is sure to be delighted by this one.

June Iparis, the famous prodigy of the Republic and Day(Daniel Altan Wing), the notorious and the most wanted person of the Republic are nothing but a delight to read in their own narrative voices.

It took me some time to remember as I read this book on why I liked Legend so much. It’s quite simple. Who could write such a subtle romance between Day and June other than Marie Lu herself. Marie Lu has an amazing way of telling a story. She just gets down to the very point of story than going round and round around it.

Overall the novel is really good. It has a signature of its own. Day and June are both my most favorite characters throughout the story. I’m not partial, I like both the characters equally. They both have two different personalities. June is more of a genius , meaning she is the brains and Day is the brawn. Both have their own pasts that haunt them day by day. It’s amazing how both of them cope with it.

June doesn’t doubt a person unless she feels like she should and most of the times, she is right. Day on the other hand trusts the person who can be the most help to him. It’s ironic, because deep down Day and June are somewhat quite similar to each other.

In the beginning I thought I could predict where the story was headed, but then after a hundred pages everything started to change. Black became white and white became black. I enjoyed and treasured the book, each moment I spent reading it.

This book is no Hunger Games. This is something else. This has a power to hold on its own.

I rate it 5/5.

Book Review #4 – Easy by Tammara Webber

Book Review #3 – Easy by Tammara WebberNow if you like books with a bad-ass male character who has tons of different jobs and a normal but good looking female character who likes to be normal, then you’ll like this book.

Who am I kidding? Anyone who likes romance will like this book. There’s a lot of hot romance going on, if that is also something you like. Some scenes are quite graphic.

Along the way, you’re more likely to laugh a lot in the beginning and feel sad and apprehensive for our main character Jacqueline when the story starts to end and happy again when the story ends. So yes, this book is one with a happy ending, like most of the books these days which I read.

Jacqueline is anything but simple, she is complex not much but enough for this novel. She doesn’t hide much from people who are her close ones but when she does she feels extremely guilty. Mostly the circumstances force her to spill out the truth to the particular people.

This book revolves around the truth about how when an abused girl stays silent not reporting anything, how the attacker can get motivated by this and do the same to another girl too and continue harassing the person he abused the first time. Here is something that tries to give a slight shake to whoever is being abused, to let them know that they have a choice and that they can be free from it and there is a way and that the abusers must be reported and deserve to be locked in cells made of the strongest kind of metal in the world.

Lucas is someone you’ll start to like immediately as soon as the story begins, I mean who won’t like a person who smacks the hell out of the person who is in the process of abusing a girl in front of him. There is more to his character than we first get to see, by the end you know what kind of a person really Lucas is.

Kennedy is shit boyfriend for dumping Jacqueline for a reason that goes something like ‘to go on a quest to bang different girls’ other than his girlfriend because in the future he won’t get a chance to do the same(What a d*ck!). She deserves someone much better and Lucas is the one we all cheer to be hers.

I liked this book because these days I’m more in the line of reading romance novels and no one can stop me. So yeah this was a good book and all teenagers and adults alike, I recommend you all to give this book a read. You’ll like it unless you have a hatred for couples and you live sulking in the corner plotting on how to doom the relationship of the next couple you see then this book is not for you. Still that doesn’t make you a bad person. You’re just a misunderstood creature who needs to be loved. Just saying.

Book Review #3 – Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

Sweet EvilLove stories never get too old to be told.

Though Nephilim, the characters in story are as human as they get. There is a beauty in Anna’s character, the way she is, sometimes ignorant but never unkind. She is one those people who wants to do good to all people in return of nothing. It’s heartbreaking to see her help them and later herself become the one lost to the world’s ways. Talking about Anna we can’t forget Kaiden. He is a complex character. He has secret boxes of secrets like everyone that are kept hidden from all but opens them up only when he is with Anna. The chemistry between both of them is so electric you can almost see the sparks flying out of the book. As I read I loved both of their characters. Patti and Jay are the ones who add color to Anna’s life. They are her personal cheering team. Anna’s dad is one of the most loving dads you’ll get to see even though he is the duke of substance abuse. (Read the book, you’ll know what I’m babbling here about)

Anna’s life is so different due to her abilities to see and feel others emotions and know exactly what they want from her. (I know I know, I’m spoiling some things for you but this would be just the tip of the iceberg)

All in all, this book has excellent character development, amazing story line and a brilliant new story which encompasses angels, demons, hell, heaven, nephilim and the seven deadly sins that may haunt anyone.

This is one of those books where the characters fall in love after they get to know each other well. Lots of passionate kissing, hugging, cuddling and what not. But they are attracted to each other or perhaps fascinated by each other in the beginning. This book is also a road trip to fall in love with the simple thought of teenage love and that it can come in various ways perhaps even in a way of ‘a hot gorgeous drummer who is the son of lust’ or ‘two beautiful twin daughters of envy’.(I’m being sarcastic here. I don’t know why everyone has to be so gorgeous in books, what about us normal people? If I was in it I’d be that creepy guy with a book who stares at you like he was staring right through you. Just Kidding.)

A Paranormal Romance worth reading and one which I really liked. If you ask me, I like every book I read. It’s funny. Every time I read a book that book becomes my favorite in that genre, I’m different that way.

Movie Review #6 – The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a WallflowerThe Perks of Being a Wallflower is something I loved more than I can describe. I watched this movie because I read the book and wanted to know how it would be like. It was amazing. I loved it.

There are some differences between the movie and the book. But who cares. Anyone who has read the book and watched the movie know, both have the ability to stand on their own.

As you should know the director himself is the author of the book and he is the one who also wrote the screenplay for this movie. It’s a wonder how he did all that and still did it so wonderfully.

The soundtrack of the movie was awesome. I loved the songs.

The characters were more colorful than they were in the book. But the book has its own trademark and the movie can’t come to touch it because the movie has one of its own.

Teenagers and everyone must watch this movie, so that you won’t forget that once upon a time you were a teenager and life was good and bad at the same time.

Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller and everyone else deliver a great performance throughout the movie.

Mostly I love the story. I keep saying that too much.

Watch it now and you’ll love it. It’s sweet, sad and brilliant.

Book Review #2 – The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a WallflowerThe Perks of Being a Wallflower explores the life of teenager, through its highs and lows. Charlie is boy at the start of high school as a junior and he is scared and decides to write letters detailing his life from then onwards.

It was quite an adventure to read this book. It has an addicting quality and a cute narrating voice.

I’m somewhat like Charlie in character minus all the things in the book and the total honesty. I’m somewhat that emotional type but I don’t cry like he does. (This only makes us like the character more, because we know he is just like us) Well, writers are all emotional to some level.

The author of the book has a vivid writing style that hooks you to the book from the start. Hell, it takes about 30-50 pages to get hooked to the characters and the story in some books but in this, it takes reading about 10-20 pages and you just can’t decide whether to stop reading it or keep reading it until you are exhausted.

This is how it is, to be a teenager. I loved this book more than I can tell you. It spoke to me. Yeah, I know corny right?

This is a simple story with splendid and unique characters you’ll start to love before you know it. The story has a lot of classic literary and musical references.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a treasure to be beheld. It will take you where you’ve never been before but know exactly what Charlie is going through.

A must read for everyone and mostly teenagers.

I rate it 5/5.

Book Review #1 – Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet_book_coverScarlet Benoit is a girl living with his grandmother in a farm. This is her story. This one is the modern day adaptation of The Red Riding Hood. Though you should know, this is nothing like it.

The next will be called Cress and will feature a uniquely new version of a classic character we’ve read about for years that is Rapunzel.

It’s amazing how Meyer can take words and spin tales that are so addicting. It makes you want to treasure those books forever, maybe bury them in a treasure chest (if you are pirate. Aye!) Or keep them in a locker where no one but you can find them.

Plotting, storytelling, introduction of conflicts, world building and character development, in a whole, were just fantastic.

Being a dystopian novel and as you should know, I love science fiction, I honestly loved this book. I’m a huge fan of any and every book that falls under this category. This book had much more to offer than the previous one, which I also loved reading. Mostly because there are two characters now. To whom we like to relate to and crush on. (Who doesn’t like a girl with a metal hand! :P)

Cinder and Scarlet are both unique characters with their own opinions, motivations, beliefs and of course, problems, a bundle of them.

A book you cannot miss and shouldn’t leave out of your reading list. If you haven’t yet read Cinder, the first book of the Lunar Chronicles. Go read it now and you’ll know what I’m so excited about.

I can’t wait for the next book to be released. Cress! I’m waiting for you.

I rate it 5/5.

Movie Review #5 – Les Misérables (2012)

Movie Review #5 - Les Misérables (2012)Well, Les Misérables is a film I needed to watch.

I cried in between some scenes and the end, I’m not ashamed to admit it. If you didn’t, you need to get your heart checked. It has been turned to stone without you knowing.

I keep remembering, the singing voices, so many voices and those beautiful words.

The most beautiful and the best musical I’ve ever watched in my life.

Hugh Jackman with his strong voice, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and all the others who starred in this movie did brilliantly. No comparison can be made to their acting. They were the cast this film needed, without them it would be good but not this.

The flowing emotions, the endless tears, the hope for freedom, the promise of love and the fate that follows people around, the hard reality of the world makes you want to rethink your own opinions and choices.

A must watch. I’ve heard it is the best adaptation of this Victor Hugo’s novel they’ve ever watched and I tell you so too though I haven’t watched the others, I know they are right and true.

Maybe it will change you for better or maybe it won’t. But watch it, it is something beautiful and maybe just maybe, it’ll melt your heart.
